Peer Reviewed Proceedings

Interested authors can request their paper be considered for publication as part of the Peer Reviewed Proceedings at the time of abstract submission.

At IPAC'18, a Peer Reviewed process will offer an intermediate level of publication between a non-refereed IPAC paper (that will be published by default in the conference proceedings) and a high quality PRAB paper. We see the introduction of Peer Reviewed proceedings papers as an opportunity to publish papers that do not fulfill the acceptance criteria for journals, for example review papers, technical advancements without novel schemes, new working points for incremental performance improvements, and similar topics.

Peer Reviewed Proceedings papers will be published as part of the Institute of Physics Journal of Physics: Conference Series and therefore visible in the known publication and citation databases. The IoP Proceedings Licence Terms and Conditions can be found here.

The Peer Reviewed IPAC’18 proceedings papers will be reviewed by members of the Scientific Advisory Board, Organizing Committee, Scientific Program Committee, and by volunteers who will be selected by the Scientific Program Committee.

Authors can volunteer for this new refereeing process at the time of abstract submission. Up to 200 papers will be accepted for the Peer Review Proceedings on a first come, first served basis at the time of paper submission. Papers chosen for the Peer Reviewed Process must be submitted by Wednesday, April 11, 2018 and refereeing will be completed in almost all cases before the start of IPAC'18. In order to realize this review process, only one iteration on the content of the paper will be allowed. If the paper does not meet the required standard after this single opportunity to improve the content, it will be considered as a normal paper in the IPAC’18 proceedings.

For Peer Reviewed Proceedings papers, the same formatting and page limit rules apply as for normal IPAC’18 papers. Instructions can be found under Paper Preparation.

Deadlines for this process are indicated below:

Saturday December 2, 2017: Deadline for abstract submission. As part of the abstract submission,
the authors will have the ability to:

  • Request that their paper is considered for the Peer Review Proceedings.
  • Indicate their availability for refereeing the other papers in the Main Classification in which they have submitted their paper. We strongly encourage authors to consider this opportunity.

Wednesday, April 11, 2018: Deadline for the submission of papers to be considered for Peer Review Proceedings.

Thursday, April 26, 2018: Authors are informed whether their paper has been selected for the Peer Reviewed Proceedings. We expect that up to 200 papers will be accepted on a first come, first served basis pro rata of the number of papers per Main Classification. Papers not selected for the Peer Review Proceedings will be automatically considered for publication in the IPAC'18 proceedings.

Saturday, May 12, 2018: Decision from the Scientific Program Committee Chair concerning the approval/refusal of the papers.
